"Success isn't always about 'greatness.' It's about consistency.  Consistent hard work gains success.  Greatness will come." - Dwayne Johnson

Late Work Goal-Setting Form

I have decided to change the late work policy.  I believe that it is my role to help teach you how to be responsible.  I made the assumption that enacting a 50% penatly for late work would "teach" you a lesson about responsibility.  After talking to other teachers and attending a training meeting, I have come to realize enacting a 50% late penalty doesn't actually teach you anything about it since punishing irresponsibility does not teach responsibility.  As such, I have decided to replace the 50% late penalty with a different policy that I hope helps you learn how to be more responsible.  To be clear, this does not mean that you will be able to turn in your work whenever you want.  Submission of late assignments will require more work from you since you will now need to complete an additional "Late Assignment Goal Setting" worksheet that has you do the following:
  1. Identifying challenges that prevented you from turning in the assignment on time
  2. Establishing goals that address those challenges
  3. Creating a list of action steps that will help you reach those goals

New Late Work Policy
  • Late assignments will not have any credit reduced for submission after the due date.
  • Late assignments will only be graded if a "Late Assignment Goal Setting" worksheet is completed and stapled to each late assignment.
  • Late assignments must be turned into the purple basket labeled "Late Work."
  • Late assignments have no guarantee that they will be graded in a timely manner or at all. (For example, if I receive your late work during the last week of the semester, it is unlikely that I will have the time to grade your late work. Ungraded late work will be scored as a zero.)
  • All missing work will still be scored as a zero until the assignment is graded.
